Fabric Storage

Whenever you buy a fabric for a particular season, then you face the challenge of storing it, not only in the season you bought it but also in off season.

You can better understand it by example
suppose you purchased woolen cloths for the winter season. Now, you are not going to wear a particular apparel everyday. You will have to store it in such a manner that you can find it easily the next day. In the off-season, you will have to store it in such place that till next winter season arrives they must not get damaged. The same applies for commercial purpose also, so one should have the knowledge about storing their fabrics in all seasons.

There are two things to watch out for first is where to store and the second is how to store. Lets talk about the storage places for your cloths. There are quite few places where you can store your fabrics such as trunks, drawers, and the most common cabinets.

Cabinets are broadly used for storing regularly used or day-to-day fabrics.

For example ---
In winter season you have a woolen sweater that you wear every alternate day. Then an closet or cabinet is the ideal place to keep it as you will have to access it regularly. However in the non-winter season you can also store your clothes in the cabinets provided you pack them properly and your cabinet has that much amount of space. Similarly trunks and drawers can also be used as an storage place for your fabrics. So the most important factor is to know how will you store your fabrics.

There are some things that you should keep in mind while storing your fabrics.
1) The storage area must not get affected by temperature change and changes in humidity levels.

2) The storage area must be kept clean and dark.

3) Fabrics such as cotton and linen must not be in direct contact with any wrapping stuff or wood.
4) Always cover the fragile fabrics with some protective material such as cloth-covered cardboard tubes.

5) Always store costume fabrics on the top so that they do not get crushed by the heavy textiles.
